Bringing Financial Literacy to Life in the Classroom with Banzai
Financial education is one of the most valuable tools we can offer young people. Yet many students reach adulthood without the knowledge or confidence needed to navigate real-world money decisions. That's why Empower FCU offers Banzai, an interactive financial education platform that helps students develop practical money management skills.
Unlike traditional lessons that only explain concepts, Banzai helps students learn through experience. With realistic, scenario-based simulations, students make decisions about spending, saving, and borrowing in a safe environment where mistakes become learning opportunities.
And Banzai grows with students. Elementary-aged learners can explore basic financial concepts by running a virtual lemonade stand, while middle and high school students tackle more complex topics like managing debt, building credit, paying for college, and more.
Educators can use Banzai in ways that best fit their needs and curricula. The platform covers a wide range of topics, including:
Budgeting and saving
- Credit and debt management
- Banking and borrowing
- Financial goal setting
- College costs and financial aidCareer exploration
- Entrepreneurship
- Digital citizenship, online safety, and scam prevention
Beyond its simulations, Banzai offers interactive games, quizzes, assessments, articles, calculators, worksheets, vocabulary activities, and printed workbooks to help reinforce learning. Teachers can also monitor student progress, use pre- and post-assessments, and integrate content into their existing curriculum plans.
Through Empower FCU's partnership, local educators and students can access these resources at no cost. We're not just talking about the importance of financial wellness. We're helping provide the tools students need to build those skills before they face real-world financial decisions.
